bartels@aps.edu Leon Bartels is the principal at Alvarado Elementary. He has been an educator with Albuquerque Public Schools since 1973. The
majority of experience (12 years) has been at the
elementary level in both special education and general education. For
two years he worked as a clinical supervisor working with Master level interns
in Special Education and teaching curriculum coursework at UNM. It was
during those two years he completed his Administrative licensure and
went on to become a Special Education Program Coordinator, asst.
Principal and Principal. He has been a principal for 15 years and is pleased to be starting his fifth year at Alvarado.
